Initiated in May 1979, the university holds this ceremony toward the end of the spring semester to recognize faculty and staff for longevity of service and for retirment. Employees are recognized beginning with 10 years of service to the university, and again every 5 years thereafter. Scope and Contents Published periodically by the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the faculty handbook assists faculty in navigating the policies of the university. Early editions of the handbook focused on policies and welcoming new faculty to campus. Later editions attempt to provide a wide range of up-to-date information on significant university policies, procedures, and activities.
